Hello Neil,

I have been using mdadm for some time now and it has definitely proved to be most useful. Your work on this package is very much appreciated.

I have a question about the --create command. If I have an existing array, and I run the create command against that array, will the create command destroy the data on that array?

I have lost three of the four superblocks on my raid array and I am struggling to bring it back up. Because the superblocks are not there, and because I have moved the array to another computer, I am unsure about the physical order that the drives are connected in. (ie. I am not sure if the drive currently connected as sdb is the drive that was originally connected as sdb). Will this have an impact on the create command? Is there a better way to recreate the superblocks without running the --create command?

I hate to ask this question here as realize it is not the correct place to do so and I assume you have better things to do than answer every question about mdadm. Unfortunately I was unable to find this information via other channels. Any input is appreciated.

thanks

Michael
